*Queen of Silence*
She comes again
breathing with the winds
walking on her tiptoes
barely touching the lifeless ground
Her cold flight on the wings of December
brings along the silvery crumbs of light
falling off her dress of snow
sticking to the velvety face of the night
Her hair of darkness
meanders around the branches in the forest
kissing them tenderly before their sleep
As a loving mother she tucks them in
to their soft hazy pillows
closing their eyes with her gelid palms
Her eye of glass freezes the air
her pupils dance with stars
Quiet as a shadow from a dream
she moves across the naked land
dressing it in lace
Her icy fingers paralyses the highlands
turning them into rigid giants
Her chilly lips freeze the lakes
making them dream of warm summer nights
Breathing with the winds
she comes down from the throne of ice
to hug her vassals with her frosty December wings
She arrives
to once again become one with the nature
and wrap it gently in her magical scarf of white

Winter came down to our home one night
Quietly pirouetting in on silvery-toed slippers of snow,
And we, we were children once again.

Breathtaking and a wonderful image to match.
Thanks so much

A very beautiful poem. I’m not a fan of winter, but this poem shows it has a beauty all its own.
Lovely and unique as always, Eclipse. So many lines worthy of note.

Hello.
I love the imagery & flow of this.
We did have snow last week, but it’s since melted & temperatures are back to normal for autumn.
I know winter’s embrace is just around the corner…yes, snow when it falls makes everything look beautiful, but it’s no fun having to shovel it.
Very nicely done.
Thanks for sharing.
Here’s mine for “Q”:

very pretty. everyone is writing Winder poems, and it’s 60 degrees here. i have a feeling though were going to have a rude awakening one day soon. we don’t have winters her like we used to, or at least when i was a kid. of course wehn i was a kid, i didn’t mind them as much. π
great title ….queen of silence…as the snow always makes the world so calm…each year i’m in awe again…and love that you brought also some warmth into this with the loving mother, tucking them to soft pillows…
You are so remarkable to see all of this and share it so accurately! That is from my prospective.
Thanks for touching my soul through your poem … again … yes, Winter is upon us … I will be spending it in the city from this year on … what a treat … after 30 treacherous, dangerous and down right deadly driving conditions in the country … I’m so looking forward to discover the beauty of Winter … You sure helped me to get a headstart. Love, cat.
shivering all over – and December IS coming…

Fabulous imagery in every line. I was almost gliding across the ground and feeling all the coldness as she moved. Wonderful!~!
Hi, some great winter imagery here and a well told tale to read as well.
Hello Eclipse. I’ve loved reading this poem and your poem dedicated to your son. They are absolutely beautiful. I, too, was especially taken by your image of
‘Her hair of darkness
meanders around the branches in the forest…’ I must also say your images are utterly exquisite.

“silvery crumbs of light”, “As a loving mother she tucks them in
to their soft hazy pillows” – sounds beautiful. Yes, the snow queen is a sorceress. Your poem makes me looking forward to snow.
