On January17th, 1989, in Stockton, California, USA – Patrick Edward Purdy entered a schoolyard and opened fire with a semiautomatic rifle at Cleveland Elementary School. Five children died and 30 others were wounded including one teacher. After that he shot himself.

On November 1st, 1991, at University of Iowa, USA – Gang Lu, 27, a graduate student from China killed five with a .38-caliber revolver, angry because his doctoral dissertation had not been nominated for an academic award.

On March 24th, 1998, Jonesboro, Arkansas, USA –  Mitchell Johnson, 10, and Andrew Golden, 8, took seven guns to school and pulled the fire alarm and shot students as they headed for the exits. Four died plus a teacher.

On April 20th, 1999 Eric Harris, 18, and Dylan Klebold, 17, oppened fire at Columbine High School in Littleton, Colorado, USA. They were armed with two pistols, three rifles and several explosive devices when they entered the school. The massacre continued for over four hours, twelve students and a teacher died and 26 people were injured. After that they committed suicide in the school library.

On October 28th, 2002, University of Arizona, USA – Robert Flores, 40, a nursing student shot an instructor in her office before entering a classroom and killing two more teachers before committing suicide.

On March 21th, 2005 at Red Lake High School, Minnesota, USA – Jeffrey Weise, 17, goes on a shooting spree  killing nine people, including his grandfather, before shooting himself.

On October 2nd, 2006, Nickel Mines, Pennsylvania, USA – Charles Carl Roberts IV, 32, executes five girls aged 7 to 13 before killing himself in a small Amish schoolhouse.

On April 16th, 2007, Virginia Tech – 32 dead plus the shooter, Blacksburg, Virginia, USA: Student Seung Hui Cho, 23, killed two students in a dorm and then went through building of classrooms armed with two handguns, shooting at random before killing himself.

On November 7th, 2007 killed Pekka-Eric Auvinen nine people at a secondary school in the community Jokela in Tuusula municipality in Finland. After the massacre, he took his own life. Earlier he had put out warnings about the massacre on Youtube.

On February 14th 2008, the former sociology student Steven Kazmierczak, 27, stepped  in the lecture hall at Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, USA. Dressed in a dark overcoat and a t-shirt with the words “terrorist” printed on the chest, he fired 54 shots from the scene. He killed five people and wounded another 21 before he took his life.

Yesterday at Sandy Hook primary school in Newtown, Conneticut, USA. Adam Lanza, 20, shot and killed 28 people (most of them between 5 and 11 years old). He had a hunting rifle and two pistols – his mother’s legal weapons, who was also his first wictim.

Will all that finally affect the current weapon laws…or how many more lives it has to take….

    and once more we see the horrors of gun
    crime, it was such a heinous act and only
    by the removal of so many weapons can
    everyone hope for a better future…

    Innocents lost forever… It is very sad 😦

When I grew up, I changed schools a lot, because we where travelling people … once, my brother stabbed a class mate into his bum ,,, it was a great catastrophe … all of us where expelled … my dad went ballistic … mumme cried a lot … all we could do was move on … we were always the bad people, the thives, the troublemakers … until we arrived in Greece, blessed be, they were good to my community and me … I will never forget what a bit of kindness can do … still giving back to the people of troubled Greece to this day. Have a good festive season, my friend Eclipse … love you, cat.

  7. People were created to be loved. Things were created to be used. The reason the world is in chaos,is because things are being loved and people are being used. Vote for gun control and mental health care!

  9. It’s sick and inhuman to hear that innocent, angelic souls are gone! Little kids, smiley faces … it’s really sad! My prayers go to the families of yesterday tragedy! Let’s hope there will be no more!
