*The Ground of Angels*
*Angel Ground*
Call it the angel ground, heavenly earth if you wish,
The Earth we inherited and the groves of green
Wild roses, bluebells, linden blossom, chamomile
In their beauty, let them live
Let the kids dance like angels around maple and elm,
Playing peekaboo among the flowering branches
Let the birds fly and sing for us their hymn,
Let the fish swim amongst rocks and piers
Stop eradicating forests all animals!
Let the eagle fly, let the deer run!
Let the last river that roars in our nature
Roar on amongst mountains and spruce and pine!
Call it the angel ground, heavenly earth if you wish,
The Earth we inherited, those groves of green
Wild roses, bluebells, linden blossom, chamomile
In their beauty, let them live

The text above is my attempt to translate one of the most loved and appreciated Swedish songs.
*Änglamark* is written back in 1971, by Swedish poet, artist and troubadour Evert Taube. Already then it was closely related to environmental awareness and our duty to protect the land that is given to us.
Below:
*Änglamark* performed by swedish artists Frida Lyngstad(ABBA), Marie Fredriksson(Roxette), Tomas Ledin(Swedish singer, songwriter and gitarist) and Håkan Hagegård(Swedish opera and concert singer), in “Artists For The Enviroment”

In the original languange:

…Sleep on my arm! The night hides
under her wing your blazing cheek.
Happy and warm, soon you’ll be dreaming,
fleeing me in your dream like a wave escapes the wind…
(an excerpt from the beautiful “Nocturne” by Evert Taube)

Such a beautiful song to praise the value of nature! We humans tend to forget that the Earth doesn’t need us but we need the Earth.
